We are seeking a Senior Associate to join the Rome office of a leading law firm. The ideal candidate will have a minimum of 4 years\’ post-qualification experience (PQE) and a strong background advising clients on legal issues relating to digital technologies, innovation and ICT regulation.

The successful candidate will provide both day-to-day advisory support and dispute resolution assistance across a broad range of matters, including data management (data protection and the Data Act), cybersecurity (NIS2, the Cyber Resilience Act and the Italian National Cybersecurity Perimeter framework), European and Italian AI regulation, DORA and its intersection between ICT and the financial services sector, eIDAS and the Digital Services Act.

We are looking for a lawyer with proven hands-on experience in these practice areas, demonstrating the ability to apply the relevant legal framework in real-world scenarios. The role requires the capability to manage complex matters independently.

The successful candidate will be comfortable working closely with clients\’ technical, IT and marketing teams, as well as with external consultants supporting the client, and will be able to translate operational and business needs into practical legal solutions.

Experience liaising with regulatory and public authorities is essential, including the Italian Data Protection Authority, the Department for Digital Transformation, AgID, the National Cybersecurity Agency and the Ministry of Enterprises and Made in Italy.

The successful candidate will play a central role in advising financial institutions on restructuring and turnaround matters, as well as assisting insolvent companies, investors and creditors in connection with debt restructuring. They will have the opportunity to apply the full range of restructuring tools provided by Italian bankruptcy law, including certified plans, debt restructuring agreements and compositions with creditors, while also developing innovative alternatives for debtors and creditors alike. This may include debt release arrangements through the assignment of receivables and ensuing recapitalisation, or proposals for composition with creditors under bankruptcy involving the conversion of receivables into capital.

Candidates should ideally be legal professionals with approximately 3/4 years of experience gained within an in-house legal team and/or a reputable law firm. Strong interpersonal and communication abilities are essential, as is the ability to work both independently and collaboratively within an international environment.
